Mahatma Gandhi once said, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”
A week teaching in a remote Cambodian village provides you with the opportunity to do just that, sleeping in hammocks, supporting rural communities and being exposed to a new culture will help you discover who you are whilst providing an important service. Students on this trip will be part of the United World Schools (UWS) mission to educate some of the poorest nations on our planet. They will be part of an educational opportunity by building schools and supporting marginalised communities in remote and post-conflict areas. They will help to provide the most precious gift anyone can receive; an education. Teaching in a rural village, students will be responsible for leading educational classes including art, music and drama as well as leading educational and sporting activities for the children. Arriving in Siem Reap, students will then travel to a rural village, located in the Banlung region of Cambodia. The experience will enable students to take in the culture, and enjoy the sights of Cambodia, including a trip to the world-famous Angkor Wat. Over the years, West Island School has raised funds to build and maintain it’s very own school – UWS Kah. IMPORTANT NOTES: You will be expected to fundraise with your teams for the projects involved prior to participating in this experience |
