Diving is a fantastic, peaceful hobby that affords you an unparalleled opportunity to explore the world beneath the waves. Choose Dive into the Philippines to learn new skills, make amazing memories and forge new friendships.
Students will undertake a PADI Certified Diving Qualification at a registered dive shop in partnership with Splash, a Hong Kong-based diving company. Students will have a chance to learn new water skills as well as diving theory and underwater safety. They will encounter a wide range of marine wildlife and learn about marine conservation. In addition to learning to dive themselves, West Island School students will also fundraise to support local Philippines students learning to dive alongside them. This aspect of the trip provides local people with access to underwater experiences and employment opportunities that are often inaccessible otherwise. Students should be able to swim 200m freestyle to join this trip. Please note that if students have or have had any medical condition which may impact their ability to dive – particularly respiratory conditions such as asthma – they will need to obtain clearance from a suitable physician before the dive centre will permit them to dive. |
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
• Any student who has or has had a medical condition which may potentially affect their ability to dive safely will be required to undergo a medical to ensure they are fit to dive safely. This will be screened for by the school but the responsibility for undergoing the medical will be the parents. • Students under the age of 15 are not allowed to enter the Philippines unaccompanied by their parents unless they present a document obtained in advance from the Philippine Embassy called a ‘waiver of exclusion’ form. More information on obtaining this will follow but the responsibility for obtaining it will lie with the parents. The cost of the waiver will be $700 - $200 will be paid at embassy and $500 is added to cost of trip which will be paid at the border. • Students of certain nationalities will require a Visa to enter the Philippines, again this will be the responsibility of the parents. Where does the money raised go? Watch this and find out!

UPDATE: 15 May 2018
We have now confirmed all details for our Horizons Week trip to Anilao, which was moved following the closure of Boracay Island. Our route to Anilao will consist of a flight to Manila followed by an approximate three hour bus ride - a considerably shorter journey than to Boracay! We will depart HKIA at 11.10am on Saturday 17th November and land again at HKIA at 17.20 on Friday 23rd November.
We will be staying at Halo Dive Resort in Anilao who will provide both our accommodation and diving expertise, alongside the Splash HK staff who travel with us. Splash HK has a long existing relationship with this dive shop and currently run trips there with students from Discovery College and GSIS so we can be assured that the facilities, equipment and instructors are of the highest standards.
