Myanmar is a brand new trip for WIS Horizons Week and is sure to be filled with fun and adventure in a place that is just beginning to connect with the rest of the world. We will head out to a remote village where we will undertake a 2 day service project with the local community, which will leave a tangible change. Depending on the needs of the local community, this may be based around building, refurbishing projects, painting, gardening and installing water supplies. After a few days hard work, students will have the opportunity to explore magical Myanmar! We will visit Bagan’s beautiful temples, one of the richest archaeological sites in Asia; use trishaws to visit local neighbourhoods for a glimpse of typical ways of life and enjoy the fabulous views of Mandalay Hill at sunset. The days are long and intense, and each student will throw themselves into the project. We work hard alongside our new friends in the village to provide service in the community and an experience which is enriching for all concerned. The students will certainly be exposed to many things they have never seen or experienced before! |
