Leader: TBA with Sunroom Studio CAS Element: Creativity Pottery is a skill of shaping and moulding clay with hands and various tools, and using fire to harden the clay. The benefits of pottery are numerous – sensory development, motor skills, self-esteem, self- expression, problem-solving skills, discipline and pride.
Clay is a wonderful and tactile medium for students to experience three dimensional factors about structure, shapes and forms. Students will have the opportunity to work with clay on a wheel-thrown and handbuild project by learning the techniques and secrets of this ancient art form from ceramic artist Conrad Li. |
When: Monday 11 to Friday 15 November
Where: Peng Chau, Hong Kong Who: Years 10 to 12 (2019-2020) Students will be introduced to a number of ceramic techniques while they learn to think about their ideas and adapt to change along the way. These techniques include using the potter’s wheel, surface decoration, sculptural and hand-building handles, lids
and sprouts. Minimum age for this activity is 12 years. |
