Leader: Ms Mulholland and Ms Gilbert with The Hutong You will experience China’s dynamic capital – a city of imperial history, abundant restaurants, leafy parks and time-honoured tea rituals. There will be opportunities to visit the Great Wall, to make dumplings, to experience the splendour and history of the Forbidden city. There will be an afternoon marvelling at modern art on display in the funky ‘798’ district and an option to create art of your own. Students will be treated to a delicious traditional ‘Peking Duck Dinner’.
There will be Beijing Hutong-designed scavenger hunts which will get students interacting with local shopkeepers, historical characters and examining ancient architecture, all while motivating them to work as a team to reach their final destination. Multiple language opportunities to ‘speak like a local’ will enable students to comfortably apply their Chinese language skills and engage in genuine interactions with local Beijingers in order to better understand China’s capital. This trip will be very exciting and a wonderful cultural experience for all. |
